WANTED: SA DJs in Trouble with Zimbabwean Court
A warrant for arrest was issued by the High Court of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo for South African artists Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa on Sunday, 18 September.
The two DJs, along with Zimbabwean singer Sha Sha, were reportedly contracted to open the Victoria Falls Carnival at the Elephant Hills Hotel along the Zambezi River on 29 April. However, all three musicians failed to show.
Now, the event organisers are demanding that the musician pay back the lost money for flights, accommodation and expected revenue, with the court estimating the total amount to be around US$18 395.
Sha Sha released a statement via Facebook at the beginning of June, whereby the singer apologised for her actions and revealed that she was working with the event organisers to make amends.
However, there has been little heard on the subject from either of the two South African DJs since they flaked on their commitments. It appears the Zimbabwean court saw the opportunity and seized it when the two were both reported to have performed in Bulawayo over the weekend, where they are said to be currently “holed up” at a hotel.
